The Roxy/Quiksilver Junior Open Championships were recently held May 24-27 in Irvine, California. Over 600 players from all over the U.S. competed in the event. The following result hi-lights are from southern Nevada juniors who participated in the tournament:

B12s: 9th seeded Stan Breland (Las Vegas, NV) reached the quarter-finals of the main draw, defeating 8th seeded Christopher Tobias of Granada Hills, CA 6-4, 3-6, 6-0, before losing to 2nd seed Danny Desatnik of Irvine, CA 6-3, 6-4. Desatnik went on to win the tournament without dropping a set.

B14s: 9th seeded Ryan Gormley (Las Vegas, NV) reached the quarter-finals of the main draw, defeating 5th seed Austin King of Valencia, CA 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, before losing to 3rd seed Lawrence Kourie of Rancho Santa Fe, CA 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Johnathan Ribaste(Las Vegas, NV) reached the finals of the last chance draw, defeating Ryan Kingan of Vancouver, BC Canada, 6-3, 7-6, Derek Than of Hamel, MN 7-6, Ret (inj), and Thomas Mcgee of Moraga, CA 6-4, 6-4.

B18s: Unseeded Scott Schneider (Las Vegas, NV) reached the round of 16 before losing 6-4, 6-1 to 3rd seed Eric Riley of Rancho Sante Fe, CA.

G12s: 9th seeded Asia Muhammad (Las Vegas, NV) reached the round of 16 before losing to 4th seed Samantha Smith of Los Angeles, CA 6-0, 6-2.

G14s: 9th seeded Cristala Andrews (Las Vegas, NV) reached the round of 16 before losing to 7th seed Brittany Blalock of Rancho Mirage, CA 6-2, 6-3. Dominique Aubry (Henderson, NV) reached the finals of the last chance draw, defeating Lauren Megale of Boise, ID 6-1, 6-0, and Radhika Mehndiratta of Portland, OR, 7-5, 6-2.
 

G18s: 8th seeded Sabrina Capannolo (Las Vegas, NV) reached the round of 16 before losing to 9th seed Hala Sufi of Tucson, Arizona 6-1, 7-5.
