comments = Hi Ryan, Halfway through the season, Bonanza is undefeated and
looking strong to go all the way to State. The coach, Kathy Pederson has put in
1,000% to keep the girls in shape and sharp! Everyone has been working very hard
to try and accomplish this goal.
Hi Ryan, Bonanza's closet match has been against Bishop Gorman in which the score was 28-17. Our rematch will be on 9/22/03. In that match, Steffi Serrano and Candice Rogan won all their doubles and Kristy Rabin and Kammie Daniels won all their singles. In our other matches the coach has used various line ups and in our next match with Gorman, they will most likely see a different lineup. Bonanza's girls team consists of three seniors and the rest are underclasswomen. Therefore, Bonanza's girls tennis future looks bright in the next few years. Larry

Boy's semi final thriller!!!!!!!!!!!
During the semifinals @ State, Lew Deleon played last years State singles winner Cameron Parker. Cameron was up 6-4,5-2(40-15). Lew then went on fire and came back fighting off 6 match points to win the 2nd set 7-6(10-8). Then he took the third is a 6-0 sweep.Lew then had to play again that day in the championship match and got beat 6-1,6-0. He said the player from Reno "tuned me up in the finals." He also said "People seem to like to play out of their mind when they play me. It's a curse I think, hehe." Playing a competitive player can bring out the best in both party's.
Updates from up north:
The Sunset has dominated so far. In the women's semis the favorites, Bishop Gorman took care of Galena quickly, 31-14. In the other
semifinals Palo Verde beat Valley 26-19. Tomorrow an all Sunset final will take place between Gorman and Palo. Gorman should win quickly after beating them in the Zone finals. Gorman was up 26-4 after the second set and
subbed out all their starters. In the Men's Draw the sunset teams both won as well. Defending State champs Bonanza beat Galena 30-15 this morning. In the other semifinals Palo Verde took care of Silverado 28-17. The Palo Verde win was surprising, after losing in the
seasons opener 22-23 to Silverado. Also Palo Verde was missing 2 starters through ineligibility.
Tomorrow, Palo Verde will play Bonanza for the state championships.

In doubles it was Centennial's Conor Kane and Derek Jackson who will go to state along with Howard Smith and Scott Goldstein of The Meadows. In the Sunset Men's Draw we're down to 4.
The Meadows won 25-20 over Gorman. This is Gorman's earliest departure from the
tournament in a while. Scott Goldstein and Howard Smith, Mitch Jolley and Jon Menist swept their doubles sets.
The other three matches were blowouts where Palo beat Clark, Bonanza beat Cimmaron Memorial and
Centennial beat Sierra Vista.
On Tuesday look for state champs Bonanza to beat up on the Centennial boys and the Palo- Meadows match should be a good one
even though Palo Verde is winning the season series 2-0.
10-8-02 Reporter...Melissa Gibson.... Centennial wins again against Cimmaron.
10-7-02 Reporter...Melissa Gibson.... Centennial Defeated Palo Verde girls today in a very close match. It has been said this is a big "Upset", yet to me there is no such thing. Any team can win on any given day. And today it was Centennial that put the first crack in the Palo Verde armor. The girls from Palo Verde still hold first place and Centennial is in second.
