 I was just explaining to Jim and Dollie Kurtz tonight, I could probably make good money starting up a huge softball or soccer web site. There is no sport website on the net that I have found that covers any sport like VegasTennis.com cover's tennis. The only thing comparable would be the coverage professional sports gets on ESPN.com. And since Softball and soccer has so many teams, players, leagues and numbers, the potential profits are much larger then tennis. But I did not start this web site to make money. It was just something that happened as a result of playing tennis. I do not care how much I was offered, I could not bring myself to cover softball or even soccer events. Not because these sports are not great. They are great, But I am just led to play and work with tennis, and you can not duplicate the innate interest that lay within you. Some have it for soccer, some for baseball, while others have it for tennis. So when a friend e-mailed me the GALYAN'S web page,  I could relate first hand to their mission statement.

Softball, soccer and baseball is not something I am led to do, regardless of the financial potential there.  Tennis is,.. and from day one it has been effortless to play in and cover adult events, and  junior tennis. It has been nothing less then a thrill.

The same attitude was embodied when Melanie  D'Alesandro, JP and Desi Radanovich of GALYAN'S both came and stayed at the tournament almost all week, watching many matches and becoming one with the crowd. In fact, Desi talked to me about playing on a league team I have, and GiGi, also a GALYAN'S store employee, happen to be one of Marty Hennessy's students years ago and is getting back into play due to this event.

Up until this point the web site has made zero money and has been funded by me. But it is company's like Mobile Medical Services,  Wild Oats food market and GALYAN'S,  TEAM-ONE, NETPRO, BETTER NUTRITION, DENBY ENERGY BARS, GANDHI'S RESTAURANT, EHRLICH'S DATE GARDEN, OATBAR.com, Jal Daulat's  Las Vegas Skin and Cancer Clinics, Jacqueline Perez's Desert Valley Pediatrics, RSVP RENTALS, Monte Carlo tennis club, Milan GROUP, Anne Rockwell, BALLY'S TENNIS CLUB, David and Debbie Pate, Ted Shively, Misha Nevtic,  Sun Coast Casino, Wilson, Enrico Litterini's Match tracking... that make what I am doing possible, via their sponsorship. With out these company's supporting this event, it would not happen, and Las Vegas would be out an incredible event and web site.

I know that this site and the events it promotes has grown the game of tennis in the Valley and can continue to do so with your support. There is no reason why Las Vegas tennis should not be the hot bed of the west, not only for tourism but for tennis as well. All it needs is the proper spirit, of individuals who love what they do, and are willing to live and act with a touch of class. Many in the tennis community are of this description and it is just a mater of pulling the team together to set forth and win.
