That is why it is quite often that I would see Randall Cuddingham, the NFL quarterback and many other "local tennis professionals" and athletes buying and eating at Wild Oats market and cafe. BETTER NUTRITION, whom also handed out a give-a-way bag, also has numerous stores throughout the valley with vitamins, supplements and many energy bars and products for athletes and those who are looking to have healthier diets. I remember many years ago when I would eat anything and thought of a store like Wild Oats as something weird, then my old boss took me there for lunch. Here was this guy who was an all American football player at Cornell, was a tremendous athlete in his mid thirty's, I was in my early twenties at the time and he could beat me in a sprint, a swim race, and probably anything else we competed in. He was as healthy as I had seen any of his peers. When I ate the sandwich there, or the cookies there, and most of all the smoothies, it tasted great and ever since I have not turned back. Now I feel twice as good after I eat, compared to my less healthier days of eating. I don't get tired after I eat, but am full of energy and I feel right as a result of eating what I know is right. So when Melissa Gibson told me she got Wild Oats as a sponsor, and asked if I would put their logo on the T-Shirt, without hesitation I said they can have the whole back of the shirt. I paid an extra .50 cents per shirt to have the logo there and it was money well spent. I told her I will promote their store 100% because I know it is the best store in the country. I know that. And I am not alone. Just a few years after I started going to Wild Oats , the trend swept the nation and soon they had stores in almost every state. They went public years ago and now trade on the NASDAQ. I owned there stock back when it was $8.00. I don't know what it is now, but I know it is much higher. So when you see that logo on the back of all the tournament T-Shirts, and when you saw their banners at the tournament , or you eat the free salads and snacks or drink the free fruit smoothies they provide, know I support them and what they offer 100%. Each time I am in that store I find it amazing that in this country one can find foods that not only taste good but are good for you.
