One thing I did and I know worked out, was accept and try to accommodate personal requests for match time changes, but what it did do was force me to lose my sleeping hours, spending the nights trying to adjust the match times, with the daily requests of parents and kids for when they play. Some requests can not be filled, but I only found myself saying no twice, and the last time was when Estefania Serrano, wanted to play her final next week. But I knew it was right to play it today. As I later found out, Estefania Serrano turned 17 today, and spent the later part of her birthday at the VegasTennis.com event.
And personal stories like this make
the tournament shine. Her father came down to see his daughter win the
GALYAN'S
sponsored tennis racquet, as did
Jasmine Muhammad's
mom, her opponent. Let's talk
Jasmine Muhammad,
who since that striking effort months ago at ClubSport at
the pumpkin, has taken on a regained energy. This girl can
hit the ball, and in her first set against
Cristala Andrews
, it was apparent, she can go against anyone. She was up, and ready to
take the
set
in the girl's 18 final, before Cristala came flying back to win it in
a tie breaker. Then in the second set, Jasmine was not the same
player, and Cristala, the competitor she has proven herself to be,
stepped up and won the girl's 18 and under. Her father is on the
tournament committee and was a significant part in getting many of the
top seeds to play.
TB also was a huge participant in this area as he has the same vision as I do, of tournament play at it's highest and best it can be. There are just certain individuals, whom choose to thrive in all they do.
Point is, if you do something, you
do it right or you don't do it all. There is no use for something that
is not 100%. This goes for playing a match, or doing any of the day to
day chores we all have. Like
Melanie
D'Alesandro
from
GALYAN'S
, who elegantly explained
that in life there is something that shows you step by step what to
do, and all one is required to do, is do that one thing right.
Then life has heart, and you are absent all the conflicts worrying about the past and future.
Because there is a very simple yet poignant point to everything I do... If you do what is right... you feel right... simple! This credo was adhered to during the whole event.
So simple. And even though this tennis fair was an undertaking, I enjoyed every part of it. And I am open to hearing from you about what you saw about the tournament and activities surrounding it.
